Recent email sent to all members of this web page.

You are receiving this email because you are a member of the Kittson County Historian web page.  Since last year we have increased our membership by over 30% and we now have a total of 123 members.  By the end of this month we will be three and a half years old.

Our annual subscription to will soon be due and we must raise a total of $239.00, In order to keep the Kittson Historian web page on line.  As more people join and more groups are created, the word is spreading about our reputation. Our research department staff continues to gain more experience and has a very good record of finding information concerning Kittson families. We are continuing to add to our extensive obituary files and will soon have a complete record of every obituary printed in all the many newspapers that once were active in the county.

We have been building a huge database of names of the people who have lived in Kittson County.  In 1945 the population of the county was just over 10,000.  It presently sits at about 4,500.  Our so called county family tree now contains over 70,000 names.

The research department’s success rate for locating prior residents has been very good.  They would be happy to assist you in finding family members and their records. Simply go to the web page and record your request and we would be happy to try and help you, for free.  If you are so inclined you could send  a donation to the research department.

To keep this web page in action we would greatly appreciate if you could make a donation payable to the Kittson County Historical Society. Please mark on the check “For web Page”.

Please send any amount that you can afford. If we could obtain ten dollars from each member we could easily reach our goal and then some.  If we fall short, we will be forced to shut down the web page and delete all of the information and we do not want that to happen.

Glenn:  It's exciting to read what you guys have been up to.  How can one access the database you mention?

Trish, the data base was created by Marcy Johnson and she has placed a copy on the research computer. She is continually updating it every two or three weeks.  It can only be accessed by using that particular computer. Simply email Kathy Pederson at with the name of the person you are looking for.  Kathy will email you back with the information she finds.

I know the computer you mean, now that you mention it.  I was at the museum last weekend as it opened and one man was waiting to get on!  Thanks for the info...
