Glenn thank you for the welcome. I am looking forward to seeing more pictures of Kittson County. I hope to post more pictures of Northcote to this web site.
My grandparents settled in this area from Sweden. The Peter and Katrina Norlund were my GGrandparents. Brita or Betsy Norlund/Johnson/Bengtson was my Grandmother. Charles Bengtson was my grandfather. Edith Bengtson/Ryan (my mother) was born and grew up there. I'm planning to visit soon to do some research. We want to find the cemeteries, etc. Gladys Elfstrom and I have been communicating. Her grandmother was my great grandfather's sister.
No problem for the picture. Eventually I will upload some more of my sister, brother and parents... when I have some free time, which seems to be few and far between!
What are the hours for the Historical Society? A cousin from Minneapolis and I would like to visit Kittson county in October. We want to visit some graves and hunt for others. Thanks, Bev
Hi! Thank you so much for posting the pix of the Kolden/Hoversland cem. on the former lot/farm of my grandparents!!! We visited there in 1992 but, it had just rained & was very muddy so we didn't want to hike out into the field to see the tombstone to get a pix. Always wished I had!! Thanks to you I now have it!! I was born in Bronson in 1934 so am 1 up on you!! Marje
Hi Glenn - A CD would be awesome or, if easier, an attachment on an e-mail! Either way I'll be forever grateful!! :-) Kaspara is our grandmother (on our fathers side). There are 3 of us in this particular Kolden branch of the family, left. I'm in contact with sev. cousins who are also Koldens. Most of us originated from the Minn. area. Thanks also for your suggestion abt. a Kolden group - will let you know if I need help!! Thanks again for your photos/time!! Marje
Hi Glenn Thanks for the note. I did receive your comments on Ning. However we have been on vacation the past month and I didn't have an opportunity to share the information with our museum director. I am back home and planning to bring the idea up at our next board meeting. Tom
Glenn, I would be very pleased to acquire a copy of that obituary, as the one I have is not in good shape with creases and difficult to read. Please let me know what cost would occur and I will submit a payment. Thanks for letting me know. Hope your Easter is Blessed.
My paternal great grandparents John & Eliza Hills who homesteaded NE 1/4 Sec26 twp161 rge49,w5 near Hallock. John and Augusta Forbes who homesteaded NW1/4 Sec 20 twp161 rge49 w5 near Hallock. I will be sending you $20.00 as a donation. My grandmothers sister married Andrew Jerome and by poking around in one of the Jerome members on this site was able to add some family info to my tree. Glad you steered me this way and said to poke around. Sharon
I have a family tree on Ancestry.com so the one that you mention is probably mine. There a couple of other trees that might mention the same people who I believe copied some of my info before I took the tree private. I have researched the 1880 census and just about every other source I can think of including homestead, naturalization records, and the Kittson Co Enterprise to see if I can learn anything about when John Hills was born. I figured out a death date, from the death registration , from the Hallock records however the only John Hills born on that date in England apparently belongs to another family . I have been unable to determine where he was buried. He died 20 Feb 1896 in Hallock. The funeral was held in the Presbyterian Church.
Thanks for your help. Sharon
trying to get as much info as possible about my grandfather Ben Jerome. My mothers name was Sadie Betsy-Marie Jerome, sister to Betty,Mavis,Gertrude,Marion,Chuck and Rene, hope that helps alittle. Thanks for your time.
Thanks for the greetings Glen, I'm looking forward to meeting other Jerome family members. We really knew little about the Jerome family heritage until my son and Daughter-in- law began researching it on the internet, so we are eager to learn more. Thanks again for welcoming me to the Historical Society.
Could you tell me what the large sign at the Bronson Pioneer Cemetery says? I know it is the burial place of Giles and Maggie Bronson, and that it is closed to future burials. Thanks so much. Julie

Thanks for your help. Sharon
Thanks Glenn! I heard about this site from Betty Younggren; my son, Paul, was here at the time and I mentioned it to him and he said he was a member.
