Kittson profiles and photos from the past and present
Brent and Peggy Pearson have taken pictures of all the gravestones at St. Michael's Greek Orthodox Cemetery. We need help translating the Ukrainian which is used on about half the stones. Is there anyone in Kittson County that can read Ukrainian? I am creating an index (booklet) with a list of all the burials and it includes photos, family information [spouse, parents, children] and the inscription on each gravestone. If you have a family member buried there, I would like to hear from you. I need family members to check for errors. Here is a gravestone that needs translation. Thank you! Marcy

Google can translate from Ukranian to English - maybe give that a try? Go to the Google page, then click on the down arrow at top and select TRANSLATE, then choose 'Ukranian' for the language to translate from, and ENGLISH for the language to translate to, type in the text from the cross above, press TRANSLATE, and viola, you should have it...worth a shot!
Will you be posting the translations here or somewhere when you get them? I'd love to know what they are, Marcy...

I need to look at a better resolution picture but as far as now I can read the following: Kyrylo Kosovan with wife Marichka and with Yelinka - 21 of November ( ??? КИРИЛО КОСОВАН СО ЖЕНОЮ МАРІЧКОЮ І СО ЄЛІНКОЮ. 21- ЛИСТОП ??)
Please post more pics if you can. I would like to help translating it.
There is a limit to the size of a file that can be put on this site. If you would like me to send you the photos at a high resolution, please contact me at marcyj@invisimax.com
I have also created an index with birth and death dates, family information, list of my sources, information from Ukrainian Self-Reliance Association, etc. I can send that to you also. Marcy Johnson
