Sign above door reads: Women Wanter Frank Johnson Homestead
The image above is scanned from a plat book published by Geo. A. Ogle & Co. in 1912. It is a portion of Caribou Township, Kittson County, Minnesota. In Section 14, NE 1/4 section, 160 acres reflects the owner as Frank N. Johnson. In sections 12 and 13 there are two 160 acre tracts owned by an A. H Johnson.
In 1907, The Lancaster Herald published a news item reporting that, "On Jan. 3, 1907 at the brides (sic) home near Caribou occurred the marriage of Frank N. Johnson to Miss Alice Anderson. Frank is the youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. Horace Johnson and the bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Al C. Anderson of Caribou." According to the plat book referenced above, the Johnson and Anderson families resided on adjoining properties in Caribou Township, Section 14. Frank Johnson's elegantly designed sign was well worth the expense, time, and effort.
Skip: Sorry to be so late in thanking you for the Caribou Township Plat. I've been busy with other hobbies and not visiting here as often as I should.
Thanks and regards,
