Kittson profiles and photos from the past and present

These remarks are directed to Edward T. Monson who just joined.  Welcome Ed and Thanks for joining.  It might interest you to know you are the 170th member to join and we are just over four years old.

I have found a Charles Monson in Kennedy, residing there on the 5th of June 1905, during the Census.  I do not know if this is the right Charles Monson you are looking for but this man was born about 1877 in Sweden and thus was 28 years old at this point.

He came to Minnesota when he was 8 years old, so he was there 20 years by 1905.  He moved to Kittson County at age 22 and had been there six years and was working as a "Liveryman".  He was alone on the census so no family members.

I have located other Monson people, but until you can confirm that I have the right Charles Monson, I am suspending my search. It would help if we had a middle name or some other confirmation, such as his date of birth.

Since it is Sunday and the research department is closed at the Museum, I will have to wait until it opens before we can search for more Kennedy records. I did find a Monson with the same name and year of birth that moved to Atkins, Minnesota but I will await you comments before I proceed.

I have discovered that if I have the full name of an individual, plus the date and place of birth, we can usually track them down. Anyone who wishes our help should keep this in mind.

Minnie Friberg was the first wife of Charles Monson. She died on 16 Dec 1916 according to the MN death index. She is buried along with her husband at the Kennedy Cemetery. She died on the train on the way to Crookston, MN to get medical attention.
