Starting looking into my Maiden name and Mothers Maiden name. Both sets passed before I was born. My dad has always said I'm related to most " up home " :)
Yes, we are related. My grandfather, George Francis Smolak and Kashmir Smolak were brothers. I was raised by my grandparents, George and Mary Larter Smolak in Lancaster.. I left Lancaster in 1947. I recall visiting Kashmir and his family and also going out the Kraska farm. I have some genealogical information on the Smolak and Kraska families, some of which originates in Poland.
Two groups at this site, Lancaster MN 56735, and Veterans of Kittson County, have postings regarding the Smolak family; my mother, Edith, aunt Eunice, uncle Raymond and my grandfather George Smolak. The veterans group has information on Raymond and Eunice and also George Smocknck, a person who lived with Kashmir and Verna Prady Smolak. The father of Kashmir and George died in Poland and their mother, Pauline Pasierb Smolak married Martin Kraska. Martin and Kashmir immigrated to the U. S. together and Pauline and George joined them sometime later.
